1970s fashioon has found its special place not only in British culture but also worldwide. The exciting and colorful 1970s fashion ranging from the hippie looks to the mesmerizing style of the disco era are all worthy of revival in the 21st century glitz and glam. Tie dye shirts, torn and faded jeans, hip hugger and bell bottom jeans are still prevalent in the world of fashion in the market today. Famous 1970s dresses also include floral patterned dress, mini-skirts, “midi” dress, and even maxi dresses that are still popular even to this day, albeit with a little twist in style and appearance. High and clunky platform heels would seal the deal to authenticate the getup. Add with any fashionable designs of the floppy 1970 hats, you would be a walking remembrance of the 1970s amazing vintage fashion.

The 1970s fashion also gave rise to talented designers like kenzo Takada whose fashion style is a combination of both western and oriental influence. Sonia Rykiel also became famous for her figure hugging knits designs in the 1970s. Giorgio Armani also became a designer icon at that time when he launched his innovative collection of 1970s dresses for women in 1975. It was also in the era of 1970 when western fashion influenced mainstream fashion; hence American fashion became the trend-setter that other countries look up to. Other American designers who rose to fame during that time were Calkin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Pierre Cardin.

The 1970s clothing for men on the other hand are skinny fit flamboyant shirts and flared denim jeans. Printed t-shirts were also popular during this decade along with trainers and canvass shoes. For the smarter male 1970s fashion, the kipper tie seems to be the trend during the era. Longer hair and beard were also popular for men at that time due to the hippie influence. Afro hairstyle and platform soles were also a hit for both men and women. Up to this day, platform shoes have evolved into a more modernized appearance.

The fashion and glam of the 1970s have greatly influenced the designs of our modern clothing. Vintage-inspired dresses are still rising in popularity as famous movie stars parade their way to the red carpet with vintage designer clothes with a mix of modern accessories. You too can go retro and just mix and match it with any modern ensemble to create a modern-retro fashion that is uniquely your own. The 1970s fashion has made their way to the 21st century to add color and stunning flamboyant designs to our modern clothing.

America has become the hub for the ultimate fashion centre of the world. Whatever the era may be, from 1930s to 1970s fashion, people still cling on the golden years of the decades past as one to always cherish and remember through the revival of vintage fashion.
